Default Pypes cross-flow exhaust question

I'm going to be replacing the exhaust on my '70 Nova SS 350/300 and have seen a lot of very positive comments on the Pypes exhaust. Since I want my car to be as original as possible, I think I want to go with the header-back with the cross-flow muffler. Pypes has 3 different mufflers you can get with it - the race pro (semi loud), street pro (louder) and the violator (real loud). I absolutely love a good sounding exhaust and I want it as loud as possible, but not ridiculous. I've watched the video of the Nova with the X and race pro and I like the tone, but it doesn't sound loud enough for me.

Do any of you have an opinions about the street pro vs. the violator on the cross-flow setup as far as tone and sound volume? Also, if anyone has one of these setups on your car and live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I would love to meet and hear it if at all possible.

TIA

Check with Marlin "yenkodeuceregistry". He uses them on his 70 Nova and I think Pypes uses/used his car in their advertisement.

I forget which muffler is on my car, but the sound is perfect! There is no resonance in your ears when you are cruising or idling - but enough sound to let folks know that its running. However, when you jump on it - the sound really wakes up. The video on the Pypes site of my car is ok, but you need to listen to one in real life before making your decision. They angle cut the tailpipes for me and installed them exactly as factory - and only crossflow muff's for Novas in '70 (and resonators).

Search YouTube for several vids of our yellow '69 Yenko Camaro racing, and anything 2008 or newer will be with stock manifolds+Pypes transverse system...look under my YT username (Chevyls6), or "PureStockDrags" on YouTube has some video of me as well...

I have the Pypes cross flow (Race Pro muffler)header back set up on my 70 L78 Nova. At idle, and very sedate crusing, it is a very reasonable noise level, as Marlon stated,no resonance inside the car but when you jump on it, holy sh... it gets LOUD,almost like a full length straight thru exhaust system.I personally love the sound. IMO a very good compromise, good quality components too. I had a few inital fitment issues (turned out being a slightly bent header) and was near the Pypes facility, they told me to stop by, they put the car on a lift and had a tech re-do/and weld the entire system on the cuff.! very nice people to deal with.

Here's some video someone posted over at Camaro5 from the Eyes on Design show a couple weeks ago...nothing exciting, just our Y-Camaro idling (and mom waving at the end!):

I can't remember which muffler I went with either, but I'll guarantee you if you ask the folks at Pypes which muffler the yellow Yenko Camaro that helped them test the system is running they could tell you.

Like Sully stated - the folks at Pypes are awesome to deal with! They welded up my whole system as well, no complaints - love the look and the sound.
