Default Holy crap

Holy Crap. Supposed to have tornados here, not earthquakes.
About 30 min. ago had a 5.3 (my guess is it may be revised up a bit... they rarely stay at the first assessed number) earthquake about 20 miles from here. Lasted 30 seconds and my monitor was still shaking.

Wow, not something I would expect in OK. You kinda get used to them living in CA, but I'd be freaking out if one ever rattled Michigan.

Ground zero for eathquakes in the US is Oklahoma.

Fracking is the reason why.

I figured it was fracking related. Historically, OK has not really been seismically active, has it?

The Midwest is no stranger to earthquakes. Missouri (in 1811-1812) ranks in the top 20 of all time largest earthquakes in the US:

I've experienced one big earthquake while stationed on northern Honshu -- that is something you will never forget ... very helpless feeling. All you can hope for is that it quits!! TAZ

I am born and raised in California. If you hang around long enough we can show you what a proper earthquake should feel like.
