There was a hugger orange COPO 69 Camaro at super chevy in Memphis this weekend. The car was in the gold class. It was heater and radio delete. A few things were not right on the engine like the timming cover and the crank pulley. The biggest thing that I saw wrong was no frame plate for the left side exhaust hanger. Could this have been a clone?

Hey 69 this same car beat mine at the Phoenix SC show. Maybe it was just me, but I noticed the intake on this car was aluminum painted, or else it looked like aluminum paint. The car was very nice otherwise. He won the 67-69 Stock Camaro class here.

That car was very nice. I think the intake was powder coated.

Heater/radio delete??? On a different post we were all trying to figure out if you could get a 69 with a heater delete since in Jan of 68 it became law that all cars had to have a defroster ? Any idea if this car had the paperwork to show that it was ordered without the heater??. I still have to get with the owner here that has a L78 SS that has the heater delete plates to see if it was on his invoice.

If it's the same car and I think it is, it was featured in the August 1996 issue of Super Chevy. Column shift, #'s match that was "verified" and restored by Caudell Restoration in Fairmont Indiana. A General Manager for GM dealership owned the car at that time by the name Greg Dieterly in Russiaville Indiana. Hope this helps. I've never seen a documented heater/radio delete in Canada yet.

At least a couple of parts vendors have had the frame plates reproduced over the years.
A COPO or Yenko without the plate would certainly be a big question mark in my mind. |
