This car was sold new at Community Chevy in Burbank Ca. to Albert Cardinet. This 1967 Chevelle sedan 300 deluxe started life with a 283 power glide. One day many years later while the Chevelle was sitting in the driveway and not being used anymore, Kevin was leaning on the bumper and talking to his dad, Before Kevin knew it his dad gave him the car.
From that day on the Chevelle would have a new life out came the 283 and power glide. The car was stripped and repainted the original Marina blue color. Next it would be fitted with a Spectra racing 468 big block with a Engle flat tappet cam a set of 074 aluminum heads and 2 1/8 headers with 3 in exhaust... The transmission was a reverse manual turbo 400 with a 10 inch converter and a 12 bolt posi rear with Strange axles. Kevin made the car to look stock the way Chevy would have done it if they would have built it. When he moved to IL from Ca. he sent in for license plates that said 1 COPO but instead they sent him 1 LOPO. I met Kevin at UPS we were both mechanics there and one day after seeing me driving a bunch of different cars to work he told me about the Chevelle he really wasn’t using anymore and was considering selling it. I wasn’t that interested at the time since it really wasn’t something I would usually buy ,it wasn’t a original type car. About a year later for some reason I started thinking about the car and asked him if he had sold it yet, he said no . That’s all it took that weekend I bought it why I still am not really sure but its really hard to pass up a original owner original interior, original body panel car that runs like this one. The car was featured in 2 Hot Rod magazines in 1992. SSL78 John Platania ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice car. What I consider was my first car I owned was a '67 Malibu. Its original color was like Kenny Pascoe's 67 L78 Chevelle Butternut Yellow and my parents had it painted for me this Marina Blue for high school graduation. I miss that car. George
