Default Next generation 454 ci LS motor ?

I've heard from a reliable source that GM will come out with their next generation ( 454 ci ) LS1 based motor by early 2008. It would be in the ZO6 corvette, available soon thereafter in crate form and outdate our LS7 and C5R motors. Sounds logical to me and would be similar to the switch to 454ci like the change from 427 to 454 in 1970.

I saw a video on SteetFire.net that showed a 1969 Camaro built by GM Performance for Reggie Jackson. It had a new GM crate motor; a small block 454 based on the LS platform but it was called the "LSX".

Thanks Stuart. Your description of " Beastly " is basically what heard and more.

1996Z15 the LX is the name of the block that will be available from GMPP. It will go 454 ci with without any additional clearancing for the crank. Per Stuart the complete motor will be the LS9 a 454 ci LS1 based motor. The LS9 like the LS7 will be available in crate form from GMPP. Going to be in the ZO6 and maybe available in the Camaro.

No doubt this will move the bar up another notch or two.
