Default Joel Jones Cool 1969 RS Z/28!

After a bit of an absence...we have a couple of Members Rides lined up. I am still waiting on a few people who promised to send theirs in...anyways-just a reminder that Members Rides are for POSITIVE comments only. If you have anything negative...keep it to yourself please!

Without further ado...I present Joel Jones 1969 RS Z/28

Always on the look our for a deal my long time friend Mitch Moore and I were told about a partially disassembled Camaro in southern California that my be a Z/28 so hunt was on. After many phone calls and information sharing the next step was to have someone look at the car and get the final details and see if it was it was called to be. Lowe and behold it was, and after the details were worked out and a few weeks later here we had in front of us a taken apart started but never finished project that would become what I think is one of the finest restored Camaros out their today

The car was sorted bagged and boxed and as Mitch worked on the body and sheet-metal I took on the part I like best the detail and assembly. We looked high and low as all of you do for the best parts we could find for the car and had a fine collection of NOS Gm stuff to be installed on the car and I really think it helped make a huge difference in the fit and finish of the car

Down the road as many projects do family and business take over and the project gets put to the side but never forgotten. Over all the car took on and off about three years to complete but im very pleased with the out come and the I think is neither over or under restored and will be a great example of a original 1969 Camaro Z/28 for all to enjoy.

The car was sold new at Star Chevrolet in New Jersey and as the story goes we were told the new owners moved to the southern California area very soon after the purchase and that may explain why the car has all of the original sheet-metal and no floor or trunk work had to be done
The drive line is all original but we did have to find the normal get away parts like a dated water pump and alternator and things like that. The inside of the car reflects that of a very low mile car because I cleaned and reused all of it with the exception of the dash pad and the carpet and package tray. Overall we think the car came out great abut as always there is room for improvement because the next project is already on the way and we will be looking to go to the next level on it so stay tuned.

Joe Jones & Mitch Moore
