Corvette
Frank Arone and I were lucky to get our hands on this amazing survivor corvette just before winter 2022. We debuted the car this past weekend at the NCRS Regional Meet in Altoona, PA while getting it Flight and Pre Bowtie Judged. Here are some pictures and the story:
In 1970, Mr & Mrs Peterson drove their safari yellow 1968 L89 427 Corvette to Yenko Chevrolet with the intent of trading it in on a new Corvette. Don Yenko was so impressed with Mr. Peterson’s trade in, he took the Petersons into his office to place their order. Mr. Peterson and his wife laid out the car they wanted, but when it came to the drivetrain, Don Yenko stressed ordering the all-new LT-1 engine. Don Yenko explained how special the LT-1 engine is and that he was using that exact same engine for his 1970 Yenko Deuce supercars. Don also stressed that a 4.11 rear end is essential to get full potential out of the LT-1. When picking up the new corvette, Don Yenko told Mr. Peterson that when the corvette is ready for it’s first oil change to bring the car back and they will “Yenko Tune” the car and remove the A.I.R. system, but they couldn’t do it on the initial sale. Of course…Mr. Peterson did just that!! In 1974, The Peterson’s ordered a brand new 1974 Corvette at Ron Davidson Chevrolet in Ebensburg, PA and traded in this Corvette. Mr. Holtz purchased this car in 1974 from Ron Davidson Chevrolet and added it to his growing collection of cars. Mr. Holtz was a businessman who purchased cars like these when they were "fresh" used cars. The Holtz family would own this Corvette for 48 years. This Corvette is true survivor with only 29,000 original miles. The Corvette retains original paint, fiberglass panels, interior, glass, suspension, exhaust, tires, spare, etc. The motor, transmission, rearend, components, etc. are born with to the car. This Corvette has its original tank sticker, complete owner’s manual packet, sales contract, complete owner history, misc. etc. Options: 982- Donnybrooke Green 424- Custom Saddle Leather Interior LT1- 370-HP Turbo-Fire 350 Engine M21- 4-SPD Close-Ratio Transmission PT7- F70x15 White Stripe Tires U69- AM/FM Pushbutton Radio G81- Positraction Rear Axle Z09- Performance Axle Ration A31- Power Windows N37- Tilt-Telescopic Steering Wheel |
