65 66 396 low horse. All are 2 bolts Also said to be possible as a 427 for the first few corvettes, but since I have a 427 w a 942 casting early aug date and first 5 vins I'd say it is probably just rumor

Yes odd for sure not just because it's the earliest known casting date and single digit vin,but it also has odd looking gussets front and back, and If memory serves me it's a 390hp code on a 4 bolt main block. It may? Be the first 427 ever in a corvette if the first few happen to be small blocks. I never tried to see if that was known information or not but I've had the block for 30 years and never had it for sale due to not knowing if it was the first corvette 427 or not. Bought it at the Thompson ct swap many moons ago

Its been 10 years since I've last looked at it ,if memory serves me its single digit August. IE H 2 5. Dont recall the stamping other that its aug 390hp. . Going by Nolan Adam's midyear book it was a week or two earlier than the earliest he had in the data base at the time.
