I usually spend Saturdays at my workshop where I store my cars, on Oct 25th I was there to some some tidying up and rearrange some shelving. It was a beautiful day and as I look at the cars I though why not do some driving rather than working. The weather was turning colder and it was probably going to rain for the next month so this might be the last chance I get for awhile to drive my cars.

The first to go was my 71 W30 convert with 4 speed:

I had not driven this car this past year and had only put about 100 miles on it since its restoration in 2005. I chose a 20 mile loop along some divided streets and the a return trip on 8 miles of freeway. It was good to give it some exercise. This car cruises nicely at 70 and handles beautifully.



Next up was my 66 442 W30, this is a rare car and the beast of the bunch. Here is a story when Gene Wray owned the car.

I had just purchased it in June and had used it a few times and had great delight in bashing the gears. Today was no different. I chose the same loop and on the return leg on the freeway did a number of 4-3 downshifts and wound it out to the upshift to 4th. It was a wild ride.



The last car from the shop was the 68 Charger that I restored as a tribute to the Bullitt Charger

I took a different and longer route, as this car has just been on the road since March it still need some break in miles. No hard gear pounding, just rowing up and down the gears as I cruised through traffic and onto the freeway.



By the time I got back with the Charger it was 3:00pm and through that may be enough for one day, so I headed home. The sun was still bright and warm and my Chrysler 300F was at home, so it got taken out as well.

This car had its motor rebuilt in 07 and I just had the carbs rebuilt and tuned si I was anxious to get some high speed miles in. The power from a Cross Ram 413 is amazing and the sound is so different from anything else out there.



The route was 4 lane freeway so the speeds were 75+ and some full throttle acceleration… what a ride.



I got home by 4:30 and thought……one more. My other 71 442 was waiting, but I though I will hold off until the next day…. It has rained almost everyday since.



I had a lot of fun that day, got to drive 4 of my cars and put about 20 miles on each. They were meant to be driven.
