Default A "Lesson" in "Getting It"

I was at LAX yesterday and just have to talk about an Airport "Experience".......When walking to my Gate, I noticed that another Gate was decorated with a Red Carpet and Balloons attached to the Walkways.........Humm!! what's going on here I thought....Must be some Important People coming in.....A little while later an announcement was made that there were two Flight's coming in that were full of Family's that had lost a Loved one in the Mid-East Wars.....American Airlines had put together The "Snowball Express" and flew these Family's in for a Disney Vacation Free of Charge.........they were asking for everyone in the Terminal to congregate at the Gate and line the Concourse all the way back to the Exit......When the Planes arrived they were given a Water Cannon salute and as the Family's exited the Plane's and walked thru the Terminal the L.A. Police Department 12 pc Band and Singers were giving their rendition of "Proud to be an American" and "Everyone" in the Terminal stopped and "Clapped" as the Family's walked past.......this went on for about a 1/2 hour....Not one person stopped Clapping and there wasn't a Dry eye in the Terminal.........Hat's Off to American Airlines

Wheather or not you agree with the War is not the Point...........It was pretty "Cool" to show Support for the Family's that gave the "Ultimate" sacrifice to "Our" Country.............

Ken

Nice that they could do this now and so close to Christmas to help take their minds off their loss. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of "Not Getting it" I watched the news the other night about the reporter throwing his shoes at the president. What a MORON.

Thanks for posting that Ken. Very nice. I hope those families and all the people that saw this gesture of kindness have a wonderful Christmas .

As far as the show throwing incident... Does anyone remember the last time a show incident happened (besides the saddam statue) and got coverage. I remember in School being told about a Foreign President coming over to the U.S. and during a meeting with our President he took his shoes off and beat them on the table. I can't remember who he was or which President but I do remember that being the first "shoe incident" in my lifetime. I think about that same time the Egyptian President Anwar Saddat was assassinated.

It was Nikita Kruschev from the USSR and it happened at the United Nations.
Quote from Wikipedia -
"The notorious shoe-banging incident occurred during a debate, on October 12, over a Russian resolution decrying colonialism. Infuriated by a statement of the Filipino delegate Lorenzo Sumulong which charged the Soviets with employing a double standard, Khrushchev accused Sumulong of being "a jerk, a stooge and a lackey of imperialism". Later Khrushchev appeared to have pulled off his right shoe and started banging it on his desk. On another occasion, Khrushchev said in reference to capitalism, "My vas pokhoronim!", translated to "We will bury you". This phrase, ambiguous both in the English language and in the Russian language, was interpreted in several ways. Later, he would refer back to the comment and state, "I once got in trouble for saying, 'We will bury you'. Of course, we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you"."

Interesting comment in light of the problems with our economy and the "Big Three".

It is nice to see our soldiers getting the respect they deserve. Canadians are finally doing the same. When our fallen soldiers return to Trenton, Ontario, the bodies are transported to Toronto along Highway 401. This stretch of road is now called the "Highway of heroes". No matter the weather, people come out to honour the dead. http://www.indynews.ca/article_img/5...darespect2.jpg

My point is if this moron's beloved leader "hussein" was still alive and did that in bagdad he would be hanging from a tree somewhere on the square. They just don't get it.
