Default Drove the new Camaro today!

One of the perks of living near Oshawa is that there are a number of new Camaros out and about with GM staff memebers. One of our local Corvette buddies works for the General and brought out a new 2SS/RS today for us to take a look at. I got to drive the car and can report that is drives really well! This was an LS3 425hp version with manual tranny. All of us loved the car, but felt it did not have the snap that a 405hp Z06 has and it didn't sound as nice. The interior is very nice and the car rides really well. One of the best parts of my drive was seeing the face of a guy in a new Challenger RT when I pulled up beside him

Here's a quick video of one of the guys taking it out...

Thanks for sharing Mark - I have one on order. How did it feel compared to an LS1 car?

-----Saw a real plain-jane silver one in St.Clair Mi. today. Couldnt see what plate was on it as it was sitting in a driveway. Probably a manufacturers plate and a V-6 version, Im guessing??? Still looked good!!!........Bill S

I would think weight plays a big factor in the "snap" a car has:

New Camaro = 3800 Lb

01-04 Z06 = 3100 Lb

I would love to have another Z06!

Hylton, it felt very similar to my old LS1 which had a very civilized feel compared to my LS6 cars. I think it will need a tune and an exhaust to really wake the car up. I'll be picking one up too!

New 500+ HP Stang that is out should fix the HP problem with the current GM LS3- that is if GM has the money to play on the same field as Ford, we will see

Phil - I forgot to tell you - GM is considering additional stripe packages for the 5th gen. I've been told these LS3 engines are getting 480hp with only the GMPP hotcam and free flowing exhaust installed. Add a Paxton and you'll be hauling and still have plenty of money left in your pocket compared to buying a 500 hp Mustang.
