Hi Gents,
Is this is a good car for the money? How much does an automatic hurt the sale of the car? Thanks. -Dan http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-G...emZ170387389852

That's that two-tone car? It's an unusual combo. 2-speed auto sucks, but it's a first-year GTO. Not sharp on the earlier cars, but I know Tripower auto cars are the rarest combo out there. Would make a very nice driver!

This is definately a "cream puff" in every sense of the word! The earthy 2-tone paint scheme, the beige interior, the console-less column shift 2-speed, it's all there! I too love these "oddball" color combos.
Most of the GTO's equipped like this were later repainted a more "aggressive" color, and their 2-speed trannys were yanked for a TH400 or a 4-speed. It's cool to see GTO's the way they were actually built. Not every GTO was a red 389 tri-power 4-speed with 3.90 gears. ![]() As for the question about whether the 2-speed hurts the value, are you looking at this to flip, or for Sunday drives/cruise nights? Most Pontiac collectors wouldn't want a "Musclecar" (especially the grandaddy of them all, the 64 GTO) with these colors, or with this trans, but there are always those that are looking for something different. But I like it. ![]()

I also like this ebay goat and its unusual drivetrain combo. A fellow here in town has the same drivetrain in a beautifully restored GTO that he has owned for 22 years and it has a very special history (which he did NOT know when he bought it). I hope to do a story on this car next year for HMM...

This 64 GTO was sent to Delco-Moraine Brake Division in Summer 1963 for the development of disc brakes for the A-bodies. Once development was done, the car was sold to the Test Driver in Sept. 64, which he still owns 45 years later.
