looks like a cable broke, the arms on the left look to be on the ground, that would not make your day,

Seems like the hydraulics bled back into the power unit since there is no visible leaks on the floor, the equaling cable failed AND the safety locks weren't engaged (or at least not adjusted right as only one side appears to have caught).

I suspect the cables have not been adjusted properly for a long time. You know those guys who operate a lift where you hear each side of the safety locks clicking out of rhythm. Sure does get annoying to listen to, might as well throw a bungee chord over the lock release so you don't have to listen to them. Now since they aren't adjusted properly, one side has more stress on it for years and years and it has just taken it's toll.

It will probably be labeled as "another" Chinese lift failure even thought there is only one lift failure I have ever know to actually be from a manufacturer defect (and yes even that one is too many). This one I believe to be from long term neglect by it's owner.

Anyway, it is a shame to see this, but hopefully it will prevent some other people form having a similar experience.

Wow! That picture really made me wince in my chair. What a nightmare. That's one of those days where you would immediately go in the house and go to bed, hoping to wake up and the whole thing was just a nightmare.......'til you go back in the garage and realize it really did happen.
