Default 65 Chev Block Question

The following pics are of a 1965 CBB, one of the 30 + blocks I snagged last week. I have no clue about anything earlier than about 1967 so wondering if the stamping is common for that timeframe. Trying to nail down a fair value for this block as well as a 1965 Turbo 400 CA transmission. I will get tag info from that later on today. This block has been sitting outside Bailey's Machine shop in Mesa the last 25+ years and is a standard bore block.

Here are some pics of the block. I'm at work so have limited resources to look stuff up so I appreciate any feedback from the gurus on this site. Thanks in advance:

According to Colvin, this block (IG) was from a big Chevy with a 396/325 PG.
Tonawada, April (04) 5th.
The casting number looks like 3855962, which is strange because that's a 4 bolt, hi-perf casting for a full size Chevy.

I confirmed the casting number is 3855961. My main question is in reference to what I assume is the vin stamp with the out of line number. Is that typical for that year? I believe the block is a 396 passenger car block for 1965, just wondering if anyone can confirm based on the pics.

The turbo 400 has the following tag:

301
66CA 30663

from what I can determine the 301 is the julian date, the 66CA is 1966 Chevelle. What does the 30663 designate?

Want to be upfront, just looking to determine a fair value for both of these items.

Dave, the code on the pad is for a powerglide. There was no option for a TH400 on the Chevelle in '66. The CA on the TH400 was for the full size car. The casting number was used for both full sized cars or a Chevelle.

-----The out of line Vin stamp is consistent up into 66 on Chevelles as far as I am concerned. One thing Im not sure about is if none of the Chevelle and Camaro and big body plants had gang stamp holders or only Chevelle or only some Chevelle plants.......Bill S

Kevin,

Here are some pics of the Turbo 400, nice ford blue for some reason. It has been sitting outside in the AZ sun for who knows how long.

That is a 66 pasenger car 400 as stated by the CA 66 and would be around first week of November by julian date 301. I am looking for 65 A with a Julian date of 103. Interesting my protecto plate says for trans number CA 468, well 468-365= 103 JULIAN DATE April 13, 1965 and my car was built the third week of April 65. Ordered Feb 21, 1965
Thanks for taking the time and posting pics.
