Default 67 Corvette Hood Originality and Value Opinions

I have a 67 Corvette stinger hood that a local guy in interested in buying from me. The hood came off a car that was last registered in 1973. I am almost certain the hood is original GM but I thought I would ask here first.

I believe the hood was purchased over the counter and added to the car very early. There are no holes for the 427 emblems or for the stinger insert to attach.

I Before I sell the hood I would like to be sure the hood is original. I also am interested in what a fair price would be.

Any Input would be great appreciated,

Jason

Here are some pictures. The only modification is the hood was drilled for hood pins in the rear as shown.

It's real. Correct color glass, hair texture, sandblasting areas, glue, glue scraping and rivets. Real undamaged hoods go for 1000-1500.00 It appears that someone has cut out the bezel reinforcement. Lots of people removed this to allow freash air in. To be woth top dollar the insert needs be installed and the holes reglassed.

Rich.

Rich,

Thanks so much for the quick and informative input. Yes, the bezel reinforcement is gone. If the local guy passes, where would I find an insert?

Thanks again,

Jason

Jason,

if you check Long Island Corvette Supply they should sell a repro insert. Also check the Corvette Image in the north west. They also should have one.

I just happened to have a photo of one myself. Also looking for the reinforcement piece. I have an NOS bezel.
