Default Good Year Blue Streak date codes

All,

I have a set of Blue Streak slicks that look relatively old. Date code is ZY5S849R. Would appreciate if someone could decode this for me.

Thanks!
Tony

Doing a little searching it looks like they were made in 1966. Sound right?

I would like to clean these tires up and remove some of the 'patina' from long term storage. Any recommendations for what to use? Thanks, Tony

Sure, will post pics after I clean them up a little. Any suggestions on cleaning technique? They are NOS so I don't want to botch this up.

I use Wesley's Bleech with a tooth brush. It cleaned up a NON-DOT 67 Corvette white wall with ease!

Just watch that you don't beat up the blue line with a strong detergent. If they are NOS then I would try just warm soapy water with a very soft brush or wash cloth first. Are they cheaters? How wide? (7"X 28&quot tall? That would be perfect IMO!

Most of the blue line is gone unfortunately. I have no idea how they were stored but there is some shelf wear from being moved around.

They are 15", 29x10.50.

Oh, they are big tires. Early Pro Stock/Modified Production stuff from the late 60's early 70's.
