Default Selling a car?

Im going to put my 69 DY Z/28 up for sale. Todays market seems to be a bit confusing to me as to where to advertise the car, price points etc. I'm really not sure what works these days.

I tried the local AZ newspaper recently - and did not get a single call.

I'd appreciate your recommendations on approach, detail of listings and how to define the right price point?

Thanks for your time.

It is very inexpensive to list it on ebay ... list it for what you want for it and have your phone number in the listing

The Scottsdale Pavilions car show is a great place to show it / sell it

It is getting to the end of the snowbird season so sooner than later is the key

GoodGuys car show WOULD have been the best venue locally, but that was a couple of weeks ago ...

Craigslist costs nothing and MAY get you a real buyer ...

All the dealers will say for you to consign it to them ...

I always try to take the photos that I would want to see. In the case of your Z, the trim tag, pad stamp, trans stamp, differential stamp, VIN tag and any associated VIN staps. Any documentation should be photographed as well. All of the photos should be clear and legible. If they aren't... then retake them.

All aspects of the car should be photographed including the undercarriage. Would you buy a car without seeing these photos?

Forget the ebay maximum of 24 photos. Either create a photo hosting link or use one of the html programs that allow you to create hyperlinks to your web hosted photos.

Lastly, offer a clear concise description with straight forward language. Set your reserve at the minimum price that you will accept. Include your name and phone number. Than let it fly!

I don't know Ed Lis (69z280) and am not in the market for anything he has for sale, but I agree with and always thought his straightforward approach was excellent. If you have seen any of his listings I think most here would agree.

Like he said, good clear pictures of the things you'd want to see along with an accurate description.

Good luck.

Eddie
I agree with Jim on the ebay thing. If knothing else it is a good place to get the word out to allot of car people. The hope would be that a possible sale could occur during or after the listing. Protect your self with a reserve, and dump a bunch of extra photos in a photo bucket type account with the link in your listing.
Also listing it here might also be a good start ?
I know a guy south of you that takes OK pictures....

If you are going to run an e-bay ad include your e-mail address and phone number in the text in case somebody wants to contact you after the auction ends. The bigest mistake I make is falling in love with a car and pricing the car wrong. Pay close attention to the going prices of cars like yours because you do not want to overexpose your car holding out for the price you should have taken 6 months ago. Jason always has his auctions end on Sundays with good luck. Consider running an ad over at team Camaro. The ads are free and it is a good group of guys. If all else fail try Hemmings, there is a whole differnt group that reads those ads that does not visit e-bay.
