I think I like it! [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif[/img] Code 57 Golden Brown Metallic, white vinyl top, beige interior.
I have to ask though, were these cars still available with bias ply Firestone redlines in 1972? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet...=item3a7f920b29

If you look at the buildsheet you see it lists E70 x 14 white letter tires...those were available on the SS in 1972. The last year for redlines was 1969...though many folks use them because of the nostalgic muscle car look.
This car looks to be pretty well sorted out...couple of minor things: exhaust exits under rear bumper..should be behind the tire..SS emblem on grill is upside down...headlite bezels should have black ribs to match grill...otherwise it looks real nice. You couldn't build it for the buy-it now price. I like it. wilma

I would be a little nervous about the int. quality, looks a little iffy. Among other things, they left a cracked dash pad in it. It looks like the rest was done pretty well.

Mark...good catch on the interior...I didn't look at it close enough. Another reason to not trust photos...they can only give you a rough idea...you have to look close and "in person".
It still appears to be a pretty nice car..it's located about an hour from me. wilma

No...the small block SS cars all had a closed element air cleaner..even the older 68-70 cars. The only Novas that ever had the open element were the 68-70 big block cars..even the Deuce had the large dual snorkel closed unit.
Many folks take artistic license during the resto process and install the open air cleaner..probably because they are easier to find than the originals with all the heat tube sheet metal and tubing. Good question...wilma [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif[/img]

One other note...I don't think that car has a vinyl roof...it looks like a two-tone paint car..it is also listed that way on the buildsheet...they are rare.

It does say two-tone paint on the build sheet, but e-bay description has white vinyl top.You can see the letter K in the vin,so looks to be a true SS.

Tom, when did they quit putting on the frt femder gills? I know 70s had them. Was it 71, or 72, or is this one missing them?
Weren't the early 70 BBs open, and then mid Jan or so, went to the BIG dual snorkle air cleaner? Deuces had the smaller Z28 dual snorkle air cleaner to go with the Z28 L/T1 motor. |
