Hi Dan, I'm currently stripping my Garnet Red 300 down to bare bones so it can go on a rotisserie. While the body is being done, I'll be doing the frame, etc. I hope I can lean on you for advice, considering how many of these L78/post cars you've done!

Wow, I havn`t heard from both (Don and Barry) Canadian L78 Post Owners in the same thread since our SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Gathering.
Nice to hear from you Barry. I`ll send you a pm. Dan.

anybody know why this SS396 badge over the glove box door seems to be from a 68 chevelle. Or was it an early build car that might have gotten a leftover one? I've seen the car myself and it appears to be original and not tampered with.

Dan, That can not be correct! That is a 68 emblem.

I noticed a similar thing on the white 69 sYc Chevelle at SCR... spoke to the owner, who wasn't even aware it was a '68 piece (I should note it is a '68 Malibu spear, not the SS396 type as the one above) He said it was original to the car, and when we looked through the pre-restoration photos, and indeed it always had a 68 Malibu script above the glovebox. Ironically, I leafed through the old '69 SSDI issue with the Yenko Chevelle road test, and that car also had a 68 emblem on the dash...evidently they used up some '68 stock during the '69 production year.

Joe, I just want to get this correct. You think they crossed stock from one model year to another?

My old 68 SS 396 Chevelle had that EXACT dash strip....
