Default Adding avatar

Hi Bruce...New guy here GaryC. How's it going? I've been trying to figure out how to add an avatar to where my member name is. I have a teeny weeny pic of my Z on photobucket I think it's like 1.75 KB and when I try to load it in my profile where I have to add the URL I keep getting an 'Improper Picture Type' error. Photo is jpg.
It's the same avatar I use on the CRG website member 69Z28.

Also, how the heck do I add a pic in my sig area like how you have your red vert?

Gary

Hey Gary,

See here-also your avatar pic must be 80x80 pixels size or less (you can get a program called EZthumbs to adjust the pixel size):

You can get the software here: EZ Thumbs software

The picture posting tutorial has steps on how to use it. It's free, fast and doesn't take up any space...

Nope, not happening either way. I can't post a pic in my sig, it says something is too long.
I'm assuming the http addres from photobucket is what it's referring to.

If I try to add the URL as you have pointed out I still get 'Improper Picture Type' error.

I downloaded program from the link you posted but I usually use Irfanview it accomplishes the same task. The pic is 80x61

Shorten up the total characters in your signature. There is a limit to the number of characters TOTAL (including spaces). I had to just upload the pic and then add text until it gave me the error...

As far as the avatar...I'll have to fool with it. Email me your pic and I will see if I can get it to work.

EDIT: use Microsoft paint.
Open your picture file in Paint and choose resize by pixels
Change the first value to 80 and the other one should change as well...as long as you have the "mantain aspect ratio"checked.
Save the file to a new name.
Go to the Comments/Suggestion area and upload the picture using the 5th choice from the left at the top of the post box area.
Post the picture. Then right click the picture and copy the image location. Paste the location into the avatar box and click done

Your avatar should appear!

Well Bruce, I at least put a pic of my car in my sig. It says I have more characters I can add,
but I think what I stated is enough.

Now on to the avatar. If I can figure it out I'll be in business then. I do have something in mind.

I right clicked on your photo, copied the location and pasted it in the avatar area and it worked. Yours should, too?

I will check after work today!
