Wow. Could this be another car. Several things look right about it.

The vin number will tell if it is real. All of the vins are known and have been published for years.

Yep, and IF it does happen to be the real thing, there's really only two cars that it could be and one of those two would be very, very significant.

![]() So if real, it has to be Bill Jarrett's Superior Pontiac car or better yet, the #1 car Ray Nichels beat the Ferraris with at the '63 250 mile challenge cup at Daytona? Is this correct and which one is it? ~ Pete

How would a factory drag car get 54,000 miles on it?

Maybe it was actually street-driven or it's a misprint and is supposed to be 5400. When the Stan Long Tempest was first listed on E-Bay, I quickly dismissed it when the interior color was described as "green" because every body knows that all the cars were blue inside. Anyway, until a VIN # is posted it's all just speculation but it would be incredible if this does turn out to be the Daytona-winning Nichols car that's been missing for 50 years!

Well, it's doubtful that this is the Paul Goldsmith #50 car. After sitting back at the garage for a while, Mercedes-Benz purchased it, shipped it to Germany, and completely dismantled it to figure out how a lowly Pontiac sedan could have beaten all those Ferraris and Corvettes so handily at Daytona. Paul Goldsmith won that race by 5 miles over a disgruntled A.J. Foyt.

From the pics too many things not right. No holes in trunk lid for the 326 badges they came with,no 326 badges on the front grill, never had 421 badges anywhere.Wrong carbs, intake, alt bracket and valve covers. They do not mention the alu or the SD transaxle.Would need to see pics of the trunk. The two SD tempests are accounted for. There has been talk for years of a real SD car in NY but has never been seen.A guy has said he owned the Antlocer car for years and that turned out not to be true.I hope it is another of the real ones.Tom
