Did all of the 70 L-34 4spd cars delivered to California have the smog pump and plumbing?? also, did they all have the vented gas tank/charcoal setup and the heat shield under the QJ??

For 1970,none of the hydraulic liftered engines had A.I.R.,because the new 1970 TCS system became std. on them,as compared to their counterparts in 1969.
Only the solid lifter engined vehicles had to have the A.I.R. pump & plumbing system, regardless of trans. type, regardless of where sold new.

No L34 or LS5 '70 had smog, regardless of where it was sold or delivered to. NA9 Evap System which was mandatory for California resident ordered cars will be in the option section of a build sheet. In box 41 on the build sheet under AIR PULLEY it does not have "AIR" or "DA" Which are codes for the AIR Smog System. Marked on the L34 cars was "L34" or "--" or LS5 cars had "CCS" or "--".
Photo below is a NA9 car with L34 350HP

That's great...thanks for the info.

Now one more question...didn't the 70 L-34 Novas and Camaros have the large inline gas filter located at the front of the engine with the return line??

I assume the photo above is a Chevelle..

thanks...wilma

Yes,my 70 L34 Nova has the fuel filter right above the water pump.I'm sure the Camaros did also, but the Chevelles didn't for what ever reason.
