I thought this was an interesting write-up on Oldsmobile’s foray into Can-Am racing and how pressure from the Chevrolet Division finally put an end to the program.

They had a McKee reunion at Road America a few years ago, cool Can Am cars that ran with the McLaren Can Am cars. If you've never seen a Can Am car running down the mile long straight at Road America, I'd recommend it.

Here is another interesting write-up on the 1954 Oldsmobile F-88. The article covers how this car was scheduled to be made by Oldsmobile until Chevrolet again put a stop to the program. This car would have been a neat addition to the Olds line-up and a performance leader at the time.
Part I http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-bin/p...d=9960418058810 Part II http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-bin/p...d=9960418058810 Please also find several interesting photos posted by member 1970CS of the Classical Oldsmobile forum of some Olds experimental engineering during the sixties. I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing these photos, but many were so interesting - I thought the Olds enthusiasts on The SuperCar Registry might enjoy seeing them as well. The Classical Olds member said his friend was an engineer at Olds from 1953-1991. He said he has hundreds of photos from Olds experimental engineering. Very cool stuff indeed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys - I was happy to post them. The engine in the Pikes Peak Toronado looks to be some kind of Oldsmobile hemi - engine.
