Hello everyone, we at Mascar-Detroit Muscle have acquired this very original, all matching numbers 1974 455 SD Auto, Air, Power Window, Power Steering, etc, car that we will be doing a total restoration in 2016 for debut at the 2016 Muscle Car Nationals. We will post some more detailed pictures tonight of the car, then we will put it in storage and begin work on it in December of this year ..... knowing Kenny and Adam, I would not be surprised if they pull the drive train soon and get started working on that, if so, will post lots of pictures.

Guys, I am truly shocked at the power of this survivor car! Wow, all it has is headers with glass packs with exhausts all the way out the back. What a fun car to drive, will spin the wheels for as long as you want, at 30, hit the gas and the car drops into 1st gear and WOW .......... breaks the tires loose and goes sideways ............what a motor! And its an Auto car, with A/C and 308 gears. We are going to do a safety check on the car, put in new bushings, break pads, etc, and I am going to drive the heck out of this car until we are ready to do the restoration.

The SD455s were mid 13 second cars in stick trim. They were truly frightening cars with a set of headers. And all that power with A/C, too! And they also handle amazingly well, far better than a similar era Z/28.

As far as I know, no one makes the small gear camshafts for these cars, that mate with the large gear distributors that were unique to the SD455. ...and if you don't want those headers, I'll take them. In my opinion, the 73-74 SD-455 is still the most impressive powerplant of the muscle car era. A steel intake, EGR system, .410 lift cam, 8.4 to 1 compression, no Ram Air, 3.42 gears (3.08 with a/c), super restrictive exhaust, and pushing a 3600-3800 lb car. There was SO much untapped potential there.

My '73 SD has 122,000 miles and has never been rebuilt.... It runs great.... pulls hard and a lot of fun on the freeway with the 3.08's. I try to keep it out of the high RPM's due to the miles.... don't wanna blow it up...
