Default Factory New ZL1 motor...

I have a pal with a brand new ZL1 motor, complete, never assembled, no stamping on pad...any idea how much it's worth?
(Never had a gasket touch it...honest)

That would be very unusual. I am no expert in these but they all have their own identity. Chevrolet had various casting numbers and stampimgs on these blocks. I am not sure if this applied to all of them but the one I have inspected closely had a casting number. If you can give the block a really close visual inspection and let us know what you find. All Zl-1s have a base value but this can vary depending on history of the engine as much as condition. Where did it come from?

When you say "...brand new ZL1 motor", do you mean "new" as in just recently built by GM? GM started re-making the ZL-1 block with a few minor improvements...is this what you mean? Or, are you saying this is an NOS block, circa 1969? Either way, when you say "...no stamping on pad", is their just no VIN#? Is there anything stamped on the pad?

I saw your other post briefly before the computer took it off, and I tried putting it and this post back up, but when I got up this morning, they were both gone! I'm not sure why it's not leaving posts on the board...they are in the file, but it is just not reading them. I apologize for the inconvenience, but bear with me, as I am trying to sort thru the code as we speak!

So, is this engine an NOS engine, or one of the newer (circa last couple of years) ZL-1 engines? Is this engine ready to fin d a new home?
