Default 69 Z28 DZ motor

can anyone tell me what a good running 69 DZ motor might be worth. I'm looking to buy a 66 Nova SS 4 sp car and it's supposed to have a 69 302 motor. I didn't get the block casting #s but the motor has the following numbers:
19n509415 VO838DZ. the heads have 3927186 and G 9 9.
The car is in fairly nice shape but a if the motor is of substantial value, I would be more motivated to buy the car.
Would appreciate any advise. Thanks.......mike

I've seen them in the $2000 - $4000 range.

I've seen bare standard bore DZ blocks selling here on the west coast for $800 - $1200, magged and ready for machining. Disassembled complete motors with std bore pistons, std 1178 crank, 186 matched heads, 480 distributer, 472 intake with 4053 carbs can fetch BIG money if in good shape and all matched to itself.

If all the numbers are in line and the block has all correct components-(carb, dist., heads, intake, crank, connecting rods, balancer, water pump, and timing cover)
$2000.00, needing rebuild. The reason I am low is because it is an August 69 date, so that can only work for a Sept.- 69 to 2nd week November 69 Camaro.

As noted above, it depends some on how much of the motor. 2000 for a bare long block.
Are you sure on the DZ code? 0838 would the Aug 38'th. Kinda unlikely. Be curious what the date really is.

Thanks!

Seems like you have a mismatched (or restamped) block and heads, July 9th of 69 heads with an 0838 (or 0830) dated DZ block with a partial VIN from a September or October of 68 built Camaro.

Whats the block casting number and the casting date.
