Default 68 yenko camaro 427 emblem question

I know the 69 yenko camaro 427 emblems were a custom made emblem (not a GM piece) but what did the 68 427 emblems come off of. they look like the 68 style camaro emblems but say 427 instead of 396,302 ect... anybody know?
thanks! steve

The 68 Yenko Camaro and some 69 Yenko Chevelles used a 427 emblem that Yenko had made and was not a Chevy part.

Was that the very narrow skinny emblem with a bar across the bottom that was inlaid with white paint? If so. I may have a set.

The emblems that Vince showed me had no bar on bottom. The closest thing i have seen are 67 impala ss427 emblems. They come as a 2pc set with 427 and cross flags. The 427 numbers are painted red.If you strip them down they look very similar.

Speaking of emblems, about 10-12 years ago I was able to look at a '68 Yenko owned by Peter Sidlow. The car was rallye green and had metal Yenko emblems on the side which did not look like the normal ones you see on the '69s. They were very plain looking, basically a Chevy emblem without the crest and with Yenko written in the middle. Is this what a '67 or '68 Yenko should have? I have seen other early Yenkos that have the emblems I see on the '69s. I will see if I can dig up the picture I took of the emblem.

When I contacted the original owners of the white 67 Yenko, they both claimed there were no external Yenko emblems, only the "427" on the fenders. Their recollection is consistent with the car pictured on the Span Inc brochure, and with Don Yenko's comments in his 1980's interview.

I have not been able to find any evidence that the Yenko emblem was used before 1968. Yenko even put his emblem on some of his race cars but it did not appear until 68.
