I found no BU codes for any 427 in CBN (65-69). However, BU is the code in 69 for a 3.73 Posi 12 bolt rear.

Cannot find "BU" anywhere? Closest is "LU" 4-speed, L71 Engine,Alum. Heads, H.D. Clutch.

BJ is the code for a 1969 Chevelle or Chevrolet with a Low Compression 250/150HP with A/C & Power Glide.

There's no sign of any big block with "B" engine codes. Could it be an "E", there are several Chevelle engine codes for 396's with "EU" and "EL".

OK, well, This is on a #270 Block casted H-18-8. If you can advise me on how to upload pics here, I will gladly do so. I have a dig/camera setup. No URL capability.

Make sure the pic is saved at less than 100,000 bytes and save it to your desktop. You can then attached from there. The program will pull it off your desktop and insert the file. If its bigger than above it will let you know. Then go to paint and resize it and try again.

If it's a 69 engine, I would guess it's LU or LJ. LU is the Corvette HP alum head engine and LJ is a police 427. "It's got a cop motor, cop shocks and cop brakes".

Did some research on your suggestions; Local NCRS judge came and took a look at what I got here and his best determination is that LU is what was intended. The deck states : T0830LU The L appears to have been stamped over; his suggestion, but... I wonder if the GM Tonowanda employee at the time grabbed the wrong letter for the gang stamping tool. Anyways, actually where did you locate that LJ code? I ran that by him and he couldnt think a 3955270 Block would have ended up in a Police unit...Your thoughts!
Thanx for all of the efforts fellas!
