Default LS-7 Motor??? On ebay

What the heck, did GM ever put an LS-7 into a chevelle? I thought the highest performance motor was the LS-6? Anyway, check this out on ebay.

LS7 was a crate motor only available over the counter.. GM never put one in a production car. But Motion Performance did.

anyway, 3000 bucks for a grimy old crate? You can buy a brand new motor for that that's probably got more ponies.

Seems I remember a discussion on this board about a 70 LS7 Chevelle with some fiberglass body parts that was a prototype car that had been delivered through a dealer in Detroit. I remember something about the car having been parted out. OlRedAlert, were you not involved in this discussion? Anyone remember this thread?

Assuming it's a legit LS-7, that seems like a pretty good deal to me. I would think you'd be hard pressed to build something for under $3k that is gonna put out AT LEAST 550hp like that LS7. What crate engine could you buy for $3k that would put out more than that?

I agree Rob, a good LS-7 for 3k is a deal, but the more you read the description, the more i wonder if it's any good... "Before using this I would completely go through it, check clearances, replace bearings, seals, and gaskets. This item is sold as is with no warranty or returns" Sounds like he may know more about it than he's telling? Very true. But, that's a good idea with just about any engine buy. We learned that lesson the hard way on an L-72...
