Default 63 Impala tach

Hey guys, I found a 63 Impala with a factory tach in the dash about the speedometer. Makes a heck of a hump on the top of the dash! I just dont remember seeing those things when I was a kid. How common was this tach? Kevin

ALL 327-300 HP MODELS HAD THE TACH STANDARD. 250HP DID NOT.

Yea Belair, when I saw the thing I thought it was really neat. I have tried to buy the car several times. It is a true survivor. The car is in the guy's basement and hasnt been tagged since 1980. Not a muscle car but would still be a nice piece since it has original paint in good shape. Kevin

Kevin,
If you decide to pursue this '63 and need some help determining it's authenticity, etc., let me know. I may be able to help.
By the way, the tach was included with the 4-speed option when coupled with the 300hp, 400hp & 425hp engines. The tach was available as a separate option if the 300hp was ordered with the Powerglide, or on lower hp engines.

Verne.
