Default Question about a 1969 Chevelle Yenko..

I am actually writing to find out if this guy that I am contemplating buying this car from is out of line. He has a 1969 Chevelle Yenko, what I believe to be a clone. It does have all of the badges and the car is in superior shape. He told me that it came originally as a 396 SS car but once it got to the dealer the owner requested a 427 which the dealership installed. He says he has the documentation and that the car matches up with the 427. The car currently has a 468 high end motor which ran the previous owner 25k. The current owner is going to throw the 427 in on the deal but my question here is, is it really worth 38k? I have scoured Ebay and searched around but it is hard to tell. Please let me know what you think.

Many thanks,
Shawn

Take a look at the documentation and see if it looks legit. If it shows the dealer putting in a 427 then the car should have some decent value to it. Did you check the 69 Yenko Chevelle VIN list here on the site?

If the dealer installed the 427 before the original sale it is usually worth more than if it is a DAY 2 car. ie The guy took it home and then decided it was not fast enough then returned to have the 427 installed.
