Default Sixtiesmuscle's Passionate Poncho

This is possibly my favorite car of all time...Sixties is the caretaker for this awsum piece of drag racing history...the words are taken out of Arnies 50th Anniversary booklet...thanks for sharing this beauty Mike...

"1961 was the year of the first famous "Passionate Poncho". Arnie and this car were invincible. The combination did not lose one Super Stock class or match race it competed in. They went on to win the NASCAR Winternationals in Daytona Beach ,the U/S class at the World Series as well as the NHRA Summer Nationals now at Indy. The invincibility of Arnie and his Ultra Stock 368 HP Pontiac was proven absolutely when the combination soundly beat the highly rated Royal Oak Pontiac in three straight rounds of a "three out of five" match race. These performances assured the drag racing world that there was no faster stock automobile in the country"

A friend of mine recently lent me a video bio on Arnie. It had plenty of vintage footage of this car. Arnie's story is simply put "Awesome". I like how he surprised his father with the increased performance on the family tractor after doing a porting and polishing job on it. End result the famous Passionate Poncho. What can you say about a car like this. It just oozes history.

Mike, that's a beautiful piece of history - I like the high stance for the front end..and no seat belts?

Below the front bumper are two "pipes" sticking out, is that for mounting a tow bar?

Thanks,
-Sam
