Default Detroit dragway

I was wondering if any of you guys out there ever ran your cars at Detroit Drag way , or the eighth mile Dickson Super Drag in TN. The reason I ask is because I have spoken to the son of a previous owner to my car and he said his father James Binkley used to run there Hugger Orange copo at a few of these tracks from 1971-77. Any help is appreciated.

I spent a lot of time there ,first as a spectator about 61 and 62.In fall of 67 I took my new 68 Ram Air GTO there to race.At that time so many stockers showed up they would race 4 at a time.Kinda hard to forget that. That only lasted a couple years, they must have figured it was a safety concern. The last time I raced there was 77 and by then it was pretty run down.

I know Ken Barnhart and my arch nemesis & Studebaker racer Ted Harbit raced at Detroit, just not sure on the years...?

If Ted raced at Detroit he must have left two days early to get there. I've been behind his tow rig! That sucker won't go over 50 mph!! Luckily he only lives a little ways from Bunker Hill and Muncie. To bad he's not a Yenko guy. He could scout the sYc Nova that Marlin says was seen in that area.

I have raced there quit often. I live only 15 miles from where it use to be. I was racing there in the eary 90's. I had a back halfed 67 camaro with a 427 in it. I use to take it there on tuesdays and Fridays for the test & Tune night. It was alot of fun! I really miss Detroit Dragway, Finally, Milan Dragway a few years ago got some new concrete and seems to be hooking again. I know just have a street 69 427 camaro.
