Hey gang..Who can help me with this? Canadian built 67 SS427 Impala was for sale @ Carsonline.com last year. I've seen the car and the owner appears to be a stand-up guy. now for sale in Hemmings. Apprears to be all there but I'm looking into most topics. Asking 34k. Trunk is not spattered like other's I've seen and not sure about "Impala SS" on lower front fenders. missing manifold & carb, no big deal. Any thoughts or recommendations? Helpful advise like, 427TJ, will get a get a poster pic of my infamous Camaro burnout posted a week or so ago!!! lololol Thanks in advance. (no disrespect to the owner with this post, but like any enthusiast, I GOTTA KNOW!)

I am not an expert, I just own a documented 69 SS427. I really cant help on a 67, but my 2 cents is: if it doesn't have documentation (verifiable) leave it alone.......Joel

If it is a true SS427 RPO Z-24, it would have the domed hood, SS427 grill emblem, special 427 numerals and side flags, SS427 trunk emblem, etc. Nowhere on the car will it say Super Sport except in the interior. The Super Sport emblems you speak of were used on the standard model of which you could get a 427 in. In other words, you could order an RPO code Z-24 optioned SS427 or you could order the regular Super Sport Impala with the 385 hp 427 engine. For a better explanation, go to www.impalass427.com Some plants used a 4D code on the cowl tag but not all.

Rick...I picked up a 69 427 that is TO314LC. From what I have found, it is 390 horse. What would make the 5 HP difference in the Caprice engine and the Impala engine?

In 1969, the standard 427 was rated at 335 hp. The base Impala and Caprice would have this engine whereas the SS427 would have the 390 hp. In 1968, the 427 was rated at 385 and I believe it was nothing more than an air cleaner difference. The LC code was in fact a 390 hp, listed as high performance and with a Turbo 400.
