It takes a special kind of person to go online and post this only hours after learning of the loss of a child. Thank you for keeping us all informed Chuck and posting this on Team Chevelle. Our hearts go out to you and your families.
From the entire sYc Family This is the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. LaRae and I got back from Montana where we got news of Cameron's accident while on the "Chevelles Across America" Tour to Seattle. After getting several calls from friends while enroute back to Nashville, I knew the word of our tragedy was spreading. So I just logged on this morning and went here to let everyone know what is happening, since the news spreads quickly amongst our Chevelle family. But first I read each of y'all's posts. Thank you for your outpouring of love and all y'all's prayers. With God's help we will make it through. Please allow me to tell y'all a little about my Son, Cameron. He was 23 years old, and our only child. In the 23 years we were blessed to have him, he gave us plenty of good times and great memories. Those of y'all that met him when he was in high school and helping out at Chevell-abration know he had an engaging personality, a warm and caring heart, and a wonderful smile. He also gave us a wonderful grandson that is the spittin' image of his Daddy. So he left a legacy. He is also leaving a legacy of another kind. The hospital staff at Vanderbilt was kind enough to keep him on life support until we could travel from Montana. The reason for this was two-fold. We kept praying for a miracle and that he would somehow jump up, and meet us at the airport with his special smile and warm hugs. But he wasn't there when we landed. So we made the trip to Vanderbilt and at least got to say our goodbyes and hug him while he was still warm. That was our selfish part. The second part of the life support was to keep his organs viable for donation and transplantation. The doctors at Vanderbilt told us that seven people had their prayers answered will continue to live on with Cameron's heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and other organs. And because of that, our "family" just got bigger, and becomes another part of Cam's legacy. We know the days ahead are going to be difficult. LaRae and I will lean on each other and trust God to help us through. Thank y'all again for your love, caring, support and prayers. Those of you that have kids (and other loved ones), please tell them how much you love them at every opportunity. And if you haven't thought about the organ door program, please do. There are so many compassionate people on this forum, and it's a selfless act that in many cases only requires asignature and witness on the back of your dirver's license. God bless y'all. __________________ |

Thank you Rick, and Thanks to Chuck and LaRae for taking the time to communicate.
If anyone hears of any Memorial for Cameron would you please let us know. I speak for myself at this time but I'm also certain I relate the feelings of everyone here; my worst fear is outliving my children. God Bless Chuck, LaRae, Cameron's wife and son.

My prayers go out to Chuck and his family. Team Chevelle has a post about a memorial fund.

Chuck, As a dad, a friend, and like Verne, Ken, Keith and others in this "Forum Family", who like myself, are enduing the loss of a child, you have to put your trust in whatever God you believe in, that your son.....GOD'S Child, is better today then we are. I know your tears flowed as God gave you the strength to let us know anbout you son; for that we are are grateful. God bless you and your wife. Jeff M
