In 1986 I sold my 1970 Daytona yellow, Z/28 Camaro, R/S, turbo 400 automatic with black stripes, black deluxe interior and black vinyl top. I sold it to a guy in southern California and he promptly flipped it in Hemming's. The car had 65,000 miles on it. The car was lowered 1.5" with 245/50/15 Gatorbacks on stock Z/28 five spoke steel wheels. I was the third owner, the first owner bought the car in Utah in February 1970. The California license plate was 429 EVI. I used to walk past this car on the way to high school for several years. I was the first person offered this car when the second owner decided to sell it and I regret selling this car to this day. It would be appreciated if anybody has any information on this car because it is special to me.

Have you tried to contact the DMV with the VIN or Tag?
Here in Canada, for $12.00, we can get a list of all previous and the current owners name and address of the car in question. I did it this year to try and find my 1977 Z/28 I ordered in 1977. Good luck and let us know if you find it. ![]()

I ran what is called a KSR through the California DMV at the dealership where I work at, a couple of years ago. No information came up with the license number. Either the person that bought the car changed the license plate or the car went out of state. This car was in exceptional nice condition with all the original paper work and original paint from the doors forward. It was modified with a 3-piece rear spoiler that was molded in.

Hi Mark!
If it is that much of a decision for you to track your car down, offer the VIN here and maybe all of us here could help locate it for you in our respective state DMV's! My PaceCar had no lasting evidence in Calif DMV archives available to me back in 1983 but I tried out of state and it came up in Oregon for me as Oregon kept their records from way back; I was lucky and found the original owner to my car verifying my car's origins and original options!!!! Good Luck! ![]()

I think in Calif if you were the original owner of a said vehicle/vessel, it might be possible to legally obtain this info. If you do know the original owner, inquire thru him and thru an Atty on the legal ways to do this here...

Any way to get a copy of the Hemmings ad and find the guy you sold it to? Is there no way to track a VIN nationally if you know the right people? Or if you used a private detective? Might be worth a shot....
