Don't miss clicking on the pics. . A bit of foolishness w/ the ZL1 motor story in the text but could be what's been translated from someone's memory....like saying ZL1 when they're really remembering L89 aluminum heads? . Smarting from the recent wife split, I'm in no position to afford anything right now but have a few ideas on tracking one of these if anyone's up for it?? ~ Pete

The Camaro was originally named the "Panther" I actually bought a 67 out of NC that had the order form filled out as a Panther . When they came out as the Camaro someone started building a high performance model and named it the Panther. But other than that they are rare I don't know much about them.. I do know they exist .

Gorries chev sold them, actively advertised them, and they were featured in mag articles of the day.

The ZL1 didn't come out until '69. They were probably referring to the 425hp 427 (the most common transplant motor) and not all Black Panthers got the big engines. I saw one at Nurse Chev-Olds back in the day. Never saw it on the road. It just disappeared. Do a Google search for "Black Panther Camaro". There is one in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The 50 sold number is just a guess (I've spoken to the fellow on the phone who makes that claim). I know of 4 that still exist today.
