Default Suspect Rear End Stamping

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-67-N...053236499QQrdZ1

Stamping looks a little "Fishy"......See any lines from filing the old numbers off.....or am I being a little too suspicious.....

Ken

Looks like the rest of the tube is pitted and that spot is smoothed out. There are lines there that could be a file or could be from something like a grinder with a heavy wire brush on it. If it was the latter the edges of the stamping should be rounded in the direction of the brush was spinning.

In short filed and stamped, I am not an expert on Nova rear stamps but that is my .02

If you look close at the "patinna"(sp?) of the other numbers and letters, and the compare them to the clarity of the FP..the results are obvious. We need a new "smiley guy" with a sign that says:... This Ebay Ad Sucks!!

Wilma,

Here's another one we need: These codes are bogus!

BTW, my vote is this is a restamp. If you look at the
0126G & E the stampings are irregular in depth and
tend to trail off - normal. The FP however seems much
deeper and does not vary in depth. When you add the
scratches in this area, I think "THESE CODES ARE BOGUS"!

There, I did it.

Steve

The add below has a 67 L79 12-bolt stamp pictured.
It is correct and matches the one I have.
The 66 should have the same style stamp.

I would have to agree that the "FP" rear is a restamp.

Later,
Eric

Its nice to know that the "hackers" are still quite bad at their job. Nice observations
