I sent the following email via the ebay email system to the owner:

"Sir,

The buildsheet that you display in your ad for your "Gold '69 L78 Chevelle" is not a "factory buildsheet" but is a forgery. The font of the letters is incorrect and there was never any such transmission as an" M40 4 spd auto trans". Perhaps this was provided to you when you bought the car. This is very misleading to a potential buyer and I am sure you would agree that this would be fraudulent to let someone believe that this was original documentation. I wanted to inform you so that you can do the right thing.

Sam"

-------This guy always has a different car on E-bay. You can tell his adds by the tree in the backround. I would be willing to hazard a guess that he has been sold a bill of goods on the car by someone else. His cars are too varied for him to know much about any one type. All that matters little in the scheme of things. Way too much wrong on this old Chevelle to even warrant a looksee in person, IMO...........Bill S

In the description he list the transmission as 4 SPD Auto Transmission-L78. That alone has to make the car worth $500k. He also has a 68 Chevelle SS convertible listed with a 136 vin number. It has a small block but he says he thinks it is an original 396 car.

M40 4speed automatic with a JD 4 speed engine. Totally black grille. Black rockers. I'll sell you a real L78 car for $40K. Of course it's not as nice as this car. Hmm.

I see "JD" called out on the "buildsheet", but did you notice on the "ENGINE IDENTIFICATION" page that the "KF" code is highlighted? Man, its hard keepin' the story straight.

Wow! This guy seems to have some questionable things going on here. Buyer beware.

There's a guy on ebay right now with a bogus '66 full size L72 dual snorkel air cleaner. He didn't post 2 pictures that would make it obvious to most that it's not what he claims. He says it's "identical" to one that sold for $1810.00. I emailed him and asked politely for the pics. He has refused. He does have 2 pictures posted that does prove it's bogus to some that know.

I hate the fact that some guys pull this crap.

Default Re: Buildsheet originality?

I have a bunch of Leeds BS for Chevelles and there are other things that don't match

On my sheet there is no coma (,) between KANSAS CITY MISSOURI

LEEDS is shown as LEED'S on my BS's
Also the word PLANT is a larger font and part of the form.

Top RH corner, Box 24 only has the last portion of the DP SEQ NO but my BS show the whole number. Since its not on the tag, they have no idea what it is (but I know).

Box 8, the body number should have the Plant ID in front of it,such as BK279822

Also he forgot to put the VIN in box 24, it would fun to see how they would have typed that in there as it always a 2x larger font and hap-hazard in location in the box.

to name a few
