Default COPO Appraisal

In the process of having my COPO Chevelle apraised. Problem is there are not many sales (public) for the appraiser to use to establish value, other than the two sold a BJ earlier this year. Anyone know of any others?? or suggestions for establishing value for insurance purposes. Thanks

ALbert

ALbert your COPO Chevelle is by far one of the best I have ever seen. I would think your car would be worth more. Could Stefano provide a lead on your car's value? Would your car be worth a $125,000 less in value when compared to the Yenko Chevelle he is offering?

Albert, Insure it for what you want to insure it for. Replacement value??? They are not out there so go with a big ticket if the Insurance company allows you too. Besides its a GREAT color!!

Also keep in mind, what ever value you place on it today will change by tomorrow so plan ahead and update it annually.

Are you going to cut him a check for what you think its worth in your mind or what the cars are REALLY selling for?
Yes the car is worth LESS then a Yenko and always will be.
I can get the Best COPO Chevelle for 300K but does that make a Fathom Green car worth the same price? NO one is stepping up to 300K but if you say his car is worth a lot more, it must be worth more. Please I hear this ALL the time:
My friends says its worth more!Let him write the check.
Exsample: Guy calls me with a Blk Hemi Cuda 4 speed Non original motor and NO buildsheet. Have a BUYER right now for 350K. Well he makes a few phone calls and people tell him its worth over 400K. He tries to jack the guy for another 25-35K and my guys says I can get a better car with paperwork and #'s matching. And he can. I have a Orange 4 speed done to #1 standards with #'s and paperwork for 400K.
Well 2 weeks later the guy is begging me to get him 360K.Now he has NOTHING.
Just because someone tells you its worth that much, doesnt mean he is going to write you the check.
Its only worth what a REAL BUYER is willing to pay...

Just my two cents !! Sorry if I offended anyone !

Rich I agree with you..no offense taken here. The problem I am having is that the cars change hands so rarely that the appraiser is having trouble finding factual selling prices!. Is it a 300K car?..no, I dont think so but 200K is not out of the question. He has it at 152,000 which I think is a little low and would like to see a number closer to 180-190 which I think is reasonable and a fair replacement value should disaster strike..

Albert the car is worth what you say it is with a good Ins Co.

if you want it insured for 250k so be it, call Tamara or any of the other special places set a agreed figure and send them a few bucks and get r done.

we dont need no stinking appraiser!! its worth what you say it is until you have to sell it.

Not all insurance companies work the same way or have the same requirements.

Al,
Is there a reason that you cannot use the Fathom Green, 4 speed, NOM car which sold at B/J as a comparable?
