How late in the model year did Canada build W motor '65s Pete? US plants built them into January, then there were no big blocks available until the 396 was released.

Considering the topic I thought this subject deserved its own thread!.

To partly answer your question Verne, there's an existing '65 Canadian Pontiac confirmed by George Z @ GM Canada Vintage services as March built w/ a W-Power RPO but interesting is he's also indicated they were available later and built too although no mention if he's verified any by specific Vin or supplied supporting paperwork for any existing cars?.

What's interesting too is not only are we Canadian enthusiasts looking to confirm later built W-cars but also looking for any real '65 Pontiac MK1V cars too as crazy as it sounds, no documented or verifiable '65 MK1V examples have appeared yet!.
(Genuine '66-70 B-Body Canadian Pontiac MK1V cars do exist...and yes L72's were built too!)

Although the exact changeover date from to MK1V from W-power needs confirmation for Canadian built Chevy B-Body cars, they were built but until a real MK1V Pontiac is verified the possibility exists that W-motors were used to the end of 1965 model year Canadian Pontiac B-Body production!.

Personally I somehow feel a real MK1V '65 Canadian Pontiac will show up yet but regardless, the whole W-powered Canadian Pontiac topic is more than interesting and even if it's not THE last one, the existing and verified March built W-car proves the last 409 built was indeed a Canadian Pontiac!.

I have heard rumors for years that there was a 65 pontiac 409 car in Georgetown, Ontario. The guy that did the original PDI on the car snoops around on this site but mostley on the 348/409 site.

Slightly off topic. In '68 there was a '66 4 speed L72 powered Parisienne convertible around Oshawa. The guys name may have been Walt or Wally. Not sure. It ran pretty well for such a big car. Would be a real collector car today.
