Alan and Sonny were at the Brian Redman vintage races in July and the car is wonderful. They've done some side bracing to help with a crash at speed, but the motor is a 1965 dated ALUMINUM block that Dontov sent to Delmo Johnson for his GS in 1965. It passed from Delmo to Alan in 1968 and has been in his hands since.
It's an amazing block, I believe the first aluminum block cast. Delmo was told to install it in his GS and not to even take a valve cover off. It was race ready. He was told that he'd be given instructions on how to get it back to GM and these instructions were never forwarded. I believe that this car has the first aluminum 427 ever cast in it.

WILD!!! .
The car, the motor story...all of it and hats off to these lads! .
Prices seem a deal really and if a fella could afford it, just being able to order one w/ ZL1, M22, J56 brakes and Big Tank is a dream come true! .

All of their cars are sold on a bill of sale, not for street use. The fronts are tilted down to keep them on the ground, a problem with the originals. If somone wants the original front lines, they can easily do that as per Sonny. Sonny Adams is a beer distributor in Mexia Texas and a very nice fellow I've known for quite some time, we both owned a D & D GS Corvette. Alan purchased one of the original GS Corvettes at the age of 19, he was too young to race, so he had Delmo Johnson race. Sold the car a few years later for what he had paid and thought he hit a homerun. He laughs about that now.
I spent much of the BRIC weekend in the pits with these guys as they were about 20 yards from the pits of the fellow I was staying with that weekend. Talk about a wealth of informaiton.............

Half of their trailer was filled with beer from Sonny's distributorship.

[/ QUOTE ] I'd cry

I had heard that they were unstable at speed and that the hoods were vented because they would blow off from the pressure in the engine compartment...

Would love to have one of those to race... I have a few GS articles that I need to scan in and post... maybe this will light a fire under the proverbial (you know what)
