Default Best places to live in Northern Illinois

I may have an opportunity for a promotion but, I would have to relocate to the Illinois / Wisconsin area in order to get it. The company office is located in Waukegan and I was wondering what some of the better areas are to live nearby? Ideally I'd like to be on a lake or river since I would be leaving the Ocean here in NJ but, I don't know if I could afford that.
I would like to stay in the $250-$325 range if possible. I haven't been offered the job just yet but, I want to see what's out there in the event that it comes along.

I doubt anything on Lake Michigan, Chain of Lakes area will be in that price range. There are some nice suburbs up there though. A buddy of mine is a RE Agent if you want some listings...PM me and I will get his info to you. Kenosha Wisconsin is damn close too which is growing . There are a few large corporations in Waukegan and a beautiful marina too. Waukegan itself is pretty nasty. The lakefront up there was the home of Johns-Manville and also Evinrude or Johnson Marine...the lakefront besides the marina area is pretty bleak. Best to go any direction from the City of Waukegan thats for sure.

There are some pretty nice homes in Wadsworth, IL. That's just west of Waukegan. The prices may be above what you're looking to spend though.
Like Belair said, you probably won't want to live in Waukegan.
Pleasant Prairie, WI is pretty nice and growing fast. I think their taxes are a little cheaper in southern WI also.

Dammit I haven't been back since we all went...maybe I can get over there in the next couple weeks......you would need light armor and depleted uranium in the area though.

Ok , Maybe Johnnies Italian Beef! Very nice area with off street parking. All kidding aside....How about around where Darren lives. Looks real clean and seems affordable. St Charles area. Looked nice to me.

Beautiful out there...but a million miles from Waukegan....plus...Mr. Sensitive would probably keep stopping by with cakes and home cooked meals.

Tell them to relocate you in The Bay Area or maybe Palm Springs. How about Phoenix?? You are going from freezing weather to the frozen tundra!

I have a townhome available in my area if anyone is interested. Ooops, might not be the right forum to say that...
