Does anybody recognize this Z28?
The original owner was Dennis Moody & he owned Moody's Pharmacy in Sparta Ill. 2nd owner lived in Pinckneyville, Ill. According to the 2nd owners son the repaint & aftermarket parts were added while Mr Moody owned it, between 1970-76. The original color on the trim tag is Classic Copper with white stripes. The original engine was also swapped out for, what I'm told, a 302 (stamped CE 5214 / 12). It's been in storage since 1988. The aftermarket parts include: 2" headers, Hurst shifter, flex fan, Accel coil, T bars, Mallory dist, ET slotted mags & an aluminum 12 bolt cover. Any help would be greatly appreciated ![]() ![]() ![]() |

the 70-71 baldwin motion camaro stripes continued past the door about a foot or more on to the front fender. or I should say all I've ever seen. Like the yenko stripes there is room for variations. nice car.

Right. I've compared the stripes as well. My guess would be that he had the paint & aftermarket parts done locally. There's no badging on the car. Hard to understand why he'd have it repainted within 6 yrs of ownership and why the engine was swapped. My guess is that, as a business owner, he had the financial resourses to do whatever he wanted. Mr Moody passed away about 5 yrs ago.
I've been told that Joel used 4 different paint shops & Joe C posted on DH that he may have had as many as 500 cars go thru Motion Performance, so I'm hoping that the 2nd owner has some documentation on it. Either way, it's a pretty cool time capsule that's been stored inside most it's life. I'll have it cleaned & running next week & hope to put the slots back on. |
