Wondering if you guys can give me any insight regarding this tach? I know it was a dealer installed option? Any input is appreciated.

That dash mounted design was available from Chevrolet from 1966-1971 as an accessory for ALL 8 cyl. vehicles, including trucks.
Is there a Chevrolet Bowtie outline on the top cover? If so it's the earlier released #993716,with it's silicone transistorized circuitry protected against damage in case of battery reversed polarity, and a replaceable dial bulb. |

This particular one I believe is 1970 or early 70s vintage with the pebble grain top and GM logo. This tach sold tonight on e-bay for $150.00. Looks like the area where the numbers are was fadded from the sun. I have one that is mid to late 60s vintage that has a smooth, plastic top and Chevy bowtie logo embossed in the plastic. I bought it NOS on e-bay over this past winter still in the box. I am putting it in my car this year. These are really cool pieces that you do not see too often in cars.
