Default my 67 Z racecar finally saw light of day today

I bought 2 new lifts...so I can downsize??? my car collection. So I had a bunch of cars outside my garage today trying to re-organize. What a workout with a bunch of push-mobiles...

Anyway..I had posted some real dark pics of this car a while back and I thought I'd post some better ones that I took today...I'm still interested in any old photos or records from back in the day ...the car was bought new from Hubler Chev. in Indianapolis by a mechanic that worked there...It was raced from day one...The car arrived at the dealer friday..was purchased on Monday and was at the track the next Friday....its never been registered or street driven. Early on in 1/4 mile all around local midwest area..then parked until mid 70's and raced 1/8th mile. I believe with a big block...And then parked for good for all these years...originally red w/white stripes..and called "chantilly lace" because it had a lace paint scheme over the stripes...has been painted numerous times since ..all by original owner himself...and eventually has morphed into this metalflaked..muraled...racer...hehehe

hope the pics turn out...

baby, yeah, this is the Big Bopper speaking
Oh you sweet thing
Do I what
Will I what
Oh baby you know what I like

Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a pony tail hanging down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round
There ain't nothing in the world like a big eyed girl
That makes me act so funny, make me spend my money
Make me feel real loose like a long necked goose
Like a girl, oh baby that's what I like

What's that baby
But, but, but, oh honey
But, oh baby you know what I like

Chorus

What's that honey
Pick you up at 8 and don't be late
But baby I ain't got no money honey
Oh alright baby you know what I like

Sure be nice to see her back in her original "lace". Thanks!

Thanks guys for the comments...and thanks a million for the great sight also!!!

My plans are definitely to keep it a day two type car...I'd like to build a 302 similar to what was run back in the day..and paint the car back to original red and white...the lace?? Don't know if I could do all that...Maybe if I saw a pic of the car from back then...supposedly also had a white laced area on the quarter panel pillar soon after it was new...the owner also engraved the windows with scenes from the countryside...and his name also...he was a real artist..(or maybe just did too much acid...just kiddin')the original owner was always 'supposed to get me pics' of the car racing...but he is kinda of a hippie type and real hard to pin down. He did give me a bunch of time slips from the area dragstrips...I'd sure like to hear from anyone that might remember the car.... I will post some more pics of some of the details of the car that are still intact...like the T-3's...the original riveted door sills..the original radiator.. much of the original red paint is visible in certain areas...also will post some of the 'owner-modified' racing features...like the radiator clamp emergency gas pedal return...or the "roll bar and Dana 60 installation that the original owner installed after he recieved "top-secret" docs from Chrysler Corp. on how to set up a hemi-cuda" ...or the vega gas tank with the fill inside the trunk..."so noone would sabatoge his gas at the track"....hehehe ....if only this car could talk...I imagine it ran in the shadows of some of the big boys back in the days...but probably saw alot of cool stuff!!! I'll post some pics later tonite...gotta get to work!!

Anyone remember the car???

Thanks again!!

hey mockingbird....my dad used to sing that song all the time to my mom and us kids when we were growing up...That's the first thing I thought of when I heard the car's racing name...I always wanted to do a lace paintjob on a car...I fooled around with it when I worked in a body shop back in my high school days...I'm not sure how to do it...I'd have to practice up first......

I'm just not sure I want to put lace on this car!!!

But maybe!! I had a 69 Z that had a cobweb type paint on the white stripes...it looked pretty cool...
..Anyone got a any pics of a lace type paint scheme that's not too far over the top??
