Would 68-71 Trans Am Sedan Class History have a significant effect on the the value of a 68 Z raced as such, (car was bought and raced then titled later)?

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, if you could prove that the car was raced in a actual SCCA Trans-Am race in 1972 or earlier, the car would have more monetary value restored as that race car than it ever would in a purely stock/restored form. If it only has A-Sedan history rather than actual Trans-Am history, then it would be a toss up and would depend more on whose car it may have been, level of preparation, paint scheme, etc. Tell us more about the car... -Jon |

It is a 68 Z I am interested in tracking down. I know of the last 2 sales... I ran across the car back in 2003 at the time it was 95% original and unrestored, but it had already been sold... unfortunately the next time I ran across it in fall 06 someone had restored it... UGH!
I seriously doubt they knew the history or thought it had any significance as when it was advertised in 2006 there was no mention of the SCCA history, but I am 99% sure it is the same car... same color, same options or lack there of and etc. Jon PM sent

Yes, it would add value to the vehicle. A '69 Z with TA history came to Austin from Mexico last year and went to the West Coast. We verified many of the unique TA pieces from old photos. A rough car that brought good money.

i would think racing history would be the most sigficant part of the car.

Obviously the car was not a significant racer what I found really cool was the car was ordered, outfitted, and actually competed as a racer straight from the showroom. To me it adds credibility as to the true intentions of Chevrolet's Z28 program. The cars could actually be raced with nothing more than a weekends or two's time spent prepping the car. How Freaking cool would it be if we could do that today? With the new Camaro? hmmmm... cmon GM...
