First, to the administrators of this website, this is not posted to berate Mr. Tracy Fields, owner and proprietor of CamaroWorld, a restoration shop in the Dallas area specializing in first-gen Camaros. It is meant only as a warning to would-be customers and an urgent request for help from my fellow Camaro enthusiasts.
Does anybody have any experience dealing with a shop in the Dallas, TX area called CamaroWorld? Tracy Fields runs the shop. Currently his shop is in Garland, Texas. You can visit his website at www.camaroworldinc.com. Looks reputable enough, and as I hear it he was an honest businessman at one time, but within the past two years things have changed. I paid him over $3,100.00 for parts last August. I received only a handfull of what I ordered (approx. $800), but Fields won't return my money and has never even ordered the rest. I borrowed the money for those parts and will be paying it back for the next 2 years. Yeah, my wife is so happy with me,plus the restoration of my dream car is on hold indefinitely. I'm not the only one Fields has ripped-off. I have spoken to others from which Mr. Fields has recently stolen, one guy from the camaros.net website for over $7,000.00. If you're thinking about buying from him, watch yourself better than we did. If you already got ripped off, contact me. Prosecutors in Dallas County did not want to do anything, but federal prosecutors I'm in touch with are willing to charge Mr. Fields with a variety of federal crimes, and say that the more people we can find who Fields has ripped-off, the better the case is. Please shoot me a message if you're interested in a little justice or if you know someone who was taken by Tracy Fields. Thanks |

Don, I'm sorry to hear of your experience. There's a few members of this board who have done business with these folks and may want to chime in. I suggest you completely fill out your profile especially your email adress so they may contact you privately. Those who may want to respond will want to know who they are dealing with. You might consider including your phone number in this thread. It helps to speak with someone first to get comfortable with their motives and situation.
I know its hindsight but...if you had asked for references beforehand on this site and Team Camaro I believe your situation could have been avoided. Don't let this experience sour you on the hobby. There are lots of good people to do business with and this is the place to get connected. You should also contact the North Texas Camaro Club as I'm sure most of those guys have input as well. ![]()

Thanks Howard.
I'll go right now and update/complete my profile. You're right, I should have checked. And don't worry about me losing interest in Camaros. If you cut me I bleed hugger orange. Very nice to meet you Howard |

I hate to hear about things like this. Looks like that website is down. Google "Tracy Fields Camaro" and this is the first hit you get Ripoff Report. Sounds like you and he should team up on this.

If you have been victimized by Tracy Fields, please call me at 214/476-4792. I am in contact with the Dallas County DA's office and they need the names of everyone he has stolen money and property from.
I gave Tracy Fields my 1969 Chevrolet Camaro in July 2006 to repaint the car, add an A/C, rally wheels, install disk brakes and few other items. At the time, the car ran well, but had an inferior paint job. He said that the entire job would take about 6 weeks and I paid him $5,000 down (based on his total estimate of $10,000). Time went by and no updates were forthcoming from Tracy. In December 2006, I discovered that he had moved from his Richardson location to the Garland location - without notifying me. I rushed over to the new location and discovered that after $5,000 and 5 months he had succeeded in tearing the car down and had begun painting it the wrong color. He repeatedly asked for the rest of the money so that he 'could finish the job'. On the way back from Camaro World, another customer flagged me down and warned me not to give Tracy another dime. He told me that he was being sued by many customers and had recently been arrested. I went back to Camaro World and told Tracy that I wasn't going to pay him any more money. I asked him to put the car back together and we would make sure that he had done $5,000 of work. Of course, Tracy had no motivation to do anything else on my car. Finally, out of desperation, I gave him another $2,400 to finish up. Over the past few months, he has emailed me pictures showing a beautifully restored Camaro and assured me that my car was almost finished. Last week, I went down there and sure enough, Camaro World was shuttered, all of the cars were gone and there was no sign of Tracy. I called the Garland police. Tracy showed up and said that my car was down the street, 'being painted'. This is of course, after he had told me that the painting was done a year ago. I walked down to another auto shop and there was my car, completely stripped - no interior, no seats, no headlights, and no tailights. Thank God, he didn't steal the engine too. To add insult to injury, the other mechanic won't return what is left of my car because Tracy never paid him $4,000 for the paint work that was done a year ago. So, I paid this criminal $7,400 and he destroyed a $20,000 car. Again, call me at 214/476-4792 if you were victimized by Tracy Fields. Phillip Dallas, Texas U.S.A.

Roy, I believe you need to explain that you are posting on behalf of someone else or at least I hope so. Your profile list your occupation as an owner of an Auto Restoration Business.

I have an friend,(not close) that got taken there for over 20K. It was his decision to go there and we are still friends. He is not real computer savey, I told him I would put the letter from the other guy on there and he said he would probably contact him so I pasted it. I met Tracy 15 years ago before he started doing this, don't have anything against him just hate seeing people get taken over and over. I don't need to say anything bad and I did not say anything bad, Tracy needs no help from me. Simple as that.
If I really needed to explain, the link was there anyway right above it. Roy
