I have a 69 Camaro that is nothing special, just a 350 auto that needs some resto work. It has original paperwork including build sheets and invoices. It is original with original parts with the exception of a repaint done back in the 80's and is in need of another. It is a little unique in that it was ordered with XT wheels which it still has including the spare, which still has the original F70x14 tire mounted, and is an unusual color combo of Cortez with deluxe Midnight green interior. I bought the car with the intention restoring it, but have since decided to move on to other things. My question is, how valuable are the XT wheels and spare tire? Obviously if this was a COPO or some other high-end car I wouldn't consider splitting it from the original wheels, but since the car is really nothing special I'm wondering if I should keep the wheels, or maybe even sell them, seperately from the car. I don't see that the wheels are adding any value to this particular car, but would I be committing a cardinal sin to split up a documented car no matter how special it is?

Is it a real SS 350 car ? The tires shown in the pic are incorrect. Is the spare the same or different ?

Yes, it's a real RS/SS 350. The tires on the car are not original/correct, but the one on the spare is.

In the past, that spare tire has brought $1000.00 or more.(read pre-stock market decline)
That's just the tire, not the rim as that Firestone Wide Oval tire is a 1969 ONLY tire and was never reproduced. They changed that tire in both design lettering and material it was made from beginning with 1970 production. That's the one they reproduce today. That's a real SS/RS 350.I don't know how much you have in this vehicle,so can't speak for which was you should go,but personally I wouldn't seperate a thing from the car especially the spare tire and XT rims. |

Jacquie,
Keep the rims on the car...simply because thats where they were intended to be and therefore thats where they belong. As you stated, the car has most if not all of its original parts...that is what helps make the car special...why part out a nice original car...? Besides, they make the car look absolutely awesome... Just my opinion |

[/ QUOTE ] It's not just a 350 car, it's an RS/SS350. Lots of people would be interested in a nice original RS/SS350 car. XT wheels were the base wheels on a SS, so they were not a special order. Yes, the color combination is the unusual part of the car! Personally, I'd keep the XT's with the car. They are what I'd expect to see on a car that is as original as this. I'm sure you'll get a dozen PMs asking to sell the wheels and especially the valuable spare tire, but in my opinion you'd be a fool to split them up from the car just to make a few bucks. They look as good on that car as anything else would and are right for the car . Definitely keep em with it!
