Default Bill Clements 1970 L89 LS6 Convertible

No scanner access tonight but I will upload scanned article tomorrow. Just digi-cam pics now, apologies. Always wondered if this article from August '95 Chevy Hi-Performance was a case of a magazine getting duped or if it was actually real:

Pictured broadcast sheet says:

L89 Alum HEAD EQ
PE2 15 X 7 WHEELS (15s on a 70 SS?!)
BOX 60 LW HOOD (supposedly a ACME FABRICATING factory fiberglass cowl induction hood - he has documents)

ACME did the W30 hood for Olds

If this car has been discussed here before please direct me to the thread, if not what is this? thanks in advance.

Been discussed here before Desmond. I do not think the story holds water.

There definitely is a thread or three on this car either here and or on TC. L89 was cancelled in Oct69, LS6 entered production Dec. I would defer to the much more qualified but fairly certain this car was deemed to have aftermarket RPO's and paper.

That LS-6 Chevelle Convertible was just that, and not an LS-6 equipped w/alumnium heads from the factory originally.
Bill Clement at ChevyCraft in Tex. was the one who owned it and made that claim at that time. The paperwork was doctored to reflect the Al. Head option, and soon disproven.
That car was orginally sold here new at Dick Wickstrom Chevrolet in Roselle,Il.back during 1970.
I don't believe any 1970 LS-6 Chevelle was assembled w/L-89 Al.Heads from the factory.

Yep..back somewhere around 1999-2000.

According to a conversation I had with Fran Preeve a while back, Tonowanda NEVER produced an L89 LS6 for production or over the counter use nor were they ever any codes assigned to any such configuration.
